About Barr Freight System

This is a family-owned and operated full-service transportation and logistics company based in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The company’s roots trace back to 1941, when Sam J. Barranco purchased Freeport Fast Freight, Inc. and laid the foundation for a multi-generational American business.

In 1965, sons John and Bill expanded the operation into trailer leasing. By 1980, Company was formally established as a contract and authorized common carrier, certified to handle both LTL and truckload freight. Growth continued through the 1990s as the company embraced intermodal global shipping, becoming a US Customs Bonded Freight Station and certified US Cartman.

Today, the company operates a strategically situated 200,000 square foot warehouse in Bolingbrook, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. The facility supports short and long-term storage, including heavy freight materials and containers on special-built chassis. Nationwide customers are served through comprehensive, advanced logistics and tracking systems.

Now in its third generation of family leadership, Bill and his three sons and nephew oversee the diverse operation. Their continued dedication to hard work and unity of purpose has kept Barr Freight System at the forefront of transportation and logistics for decades.
